I’m at the Halifax airport.
A lot of Newfoundlanders happen to be there. You can tell there’s some weird drama happening, like it’s high school it something.
I run into Chris Vaughan, and we see a Grade 10 guy who just got punched in the face. He’s holding a wet cloth against his bloody nose, but when he sees us he lights up and shouts, “It’s Pockler and Gloiter!”
We look at him, mostly stunned.
“Did you guys know we used to call you that?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
To his buddy: “We called them that because we would…”
Then he turned back to us and scowled, ”DEFEAT YOU!”
