A world map containing the “most famous person born in [country]” in place of the country itself. Click for more detail.
Notes and fun facts from the phodeographer:

  • Either there are no famous people from certain island nations in Central America and Oceania, or they occupy too few pixels to make any noticeable difference on the map. They were mostly replaced by enlarged versions of Rihanna and Eroni Clarke, respectively.
  • Certain liberties were taken concerning what constitutes a country, mainly taken for the sake of simplicity and design. For example, I know Greenland is part of Denmark, but there’s no way I’m leaving Knud Rasmussen off the map.
  • No fictional characters, such as Romania’s Dracula, were permitted.
  • It looks like there’s snot coming out of Zsa Zsa Gabor’s nose.
  • There are two, count ’em, two Shakiras, out of the 19 women included.
  • The youngest person on the map is Namibia’s own Shiloh Jolie-Pitt.
  • The most famous person from Antarctica is Emilio Marcos Palma, but there are no decent pictures of him and I wasn’t letting that pixelated madness ruin the image, so Morgan of the Penguins gets that spot.
  • I realize the secondary tactic of Googling “most famous person born in ______” may not have been the best, based on the results for Canada, where definite nobody Dorothy Stratten would have won and Dan wouldn’t even be the most famous Aykroyd brother.
  • Starting map “provided” by DinoSpain. Do I need their permission for this? I hope not. Either way, thank you DinoSpain, wherever you are (probably Spain).
